Perform basic tree trimming, pruning, topping and removal; assist in digging, balling and burlapping of plants and trees for transplanting and operate powered and non-powered hand tools.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED, plus one (1) year of general grounds maintenance, forestry or nursery experience desirable. Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Position requires: Background check, Pre-employment physical, Shift work, Odd days off.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Basic forestry related tasks including care of trees and shrubs
Methods and techniques of tree and shrub transplanting and pruning
Basic preventive maintenance of light and medium sized trucks
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Perform basic tree and shrub pruning and transplanting
Perform tree removal and clean-up of the area
Manually water plants and young trees
Learn to safely prepare, mix and apply pesticide
Learn to accurately identify common trees and shrubs
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Communicate clearly and concisely
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
