POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervise, plan and coordinate the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for irrigation, fertilization, pest control and other plant maintenance activities and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in horticulture, agricultural or a related field, plus three (3) years horticulture or related experience. Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires: Background check, Shift work, Odd days off.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Operations, services and activities of a horticulture program
Methods and techniques of plant classification and identification
Methods and techniques of providing horticulture services
Operational characteristics of horticulture equipment and tools
Recognize and evaluate plant conditions and remedy problems
Design and develop landscape areas
Lead, organize and review the work of staff in the area of work assigned
Independently perform complex horticulture activities
Interpret, explain and enforce department policies and procedures
Operate a variety of plant maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner
Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Communicate clearly and concisely
