Participate in the installation and maintenance of City traffic signs and street markings; install and maintain bus stop benches and bus shelters and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year specialized training in sign maintenance, street markings, or a related field, plus two (2) years of traffic sign and marking experience Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
This is a safety sensitive position and requires a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and random drug/alcohol testing. Position requires: Background check, Pre-employment physical, Shift work, Odd days off.

General sign painting practices
Surface preparation methods and techniques
Basic pavement marking techniques
Proper tool and equipment maintenance techniques
Basic scheduling and record keeping methods and techniques
Operational characteristics of signs and markings maintenance equipment and tools
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Independently perform the most difficult sign maintenance and repair tasks
Interpret, explain and enforce department policies and procedures
Operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner
Read and interpret blue prints and drawings
Perform surface preparation and painting of various materials
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Close streets and roads and safely detour traffic around affected area
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Communicate clearly and concisely
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of
