Grade: B15 $8.50 step one (1). After successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period, $12.82 step two (2). Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform basic park maintenance activities including mowing, planting, spraying and maintaining landscaped areas and playing fields; maintain the cleanliness of park areas, medians, trails and recreational facilities and non-grassed areas and assist in the planting of trees and shrubs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED. Specialized training in park maintenance and/or landscaping or a related field is preferred. Must successfully complete Park Management Training orientation within six (6) months and Park Maintenance Worker level I within one (1) year from date of hire. Related education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires: Background check, Pre-employment physical, Shift work, Odd days off.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Basic park maintenance practices including care of trees, plants and turf
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Basic knowledge of turf equipment
Basic knowledge of pesticides and pesticides application equipment
Perform basic park maintenance duties within assigned area of responsibility
Operate a variety of light equipment in a safe and effective manner
Learn turf maintenance techniques including seeding, sodding and repair
Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Communicate clearly and concisely
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
