Scope
Applies to all purchases of radio modems for fire vehicles.
Standard
The following minimum standards for fire vehicle radio modems apply.

Interface:
  • Data Rate - 19200 bps
  • Protocol - Serial, asynchronous
  • Frequency Band - 800 MHz

Radio:
  • RD-LAP 19200 (4 level FSK)
  • Channel spacing - 25 KHz
  • Data Rate - 19200 bps
  • Max Message Size - 4KB (inbound/outbound)

All units must be type-accepted as compliant with FCC regulations for Part 90 devices.
Rationale
Ensures compatibility and interoperability with the City's public safety communications infrastructure.
