Standard
The standard for networked telephone equipment is the Siemens Hicom 300, HiPath 4000, Hicom 150 and Optipoint 500 Telecommunications switch. Software release must be either at a 6.4 or 6.6 revision level.
This equipment, at a minimum, provides connectivity to all types of analog and digital services, to include T3-T1( Basic Rate and Primary Rate ISDN). The equipment accommodates fiber optic, copper and wireless telecommunications media, and has an internal universal port architecture which provides comprehensive and consistent data, voice, and video services, to include call accounting, call management and distribution, voice mail, system administration functions, in a distributed network environment.
Rationale
The City currently employs twenty centrally managed Siemens telecommunications systems with over 7,000 ports connected by fiber, wireless and copper T1 data facilities.
