Scope
| Applies to any document scanning device that may be connected to a personal computer on the City network that provides input to the City standard imaging system. |
Standard
| The requested device will be evaluated on the following requirements from each category. A device will only be supported in its approved categories.
Scanning Device Requirements – Page Sizes Up to 11x17:
- Must be on the Pixel Translation supported scanner manufacturer list available at the following link: http://www.scannerdrivers.com/scanner_list.asp
- Must be supported by a Pixel Translation Image and Scanner Interface Specification (ISIS) driver.
- Must have an auto document feeder.
- Must be capable of scanning up to ledger size pages (11x17).
- Must be capable of auto detection of paper size.
- Must be capable of duplex scanning.
- Must be capable of producing Portable Document Format (PDF), Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) and Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) file format output.
- Must support Auto Termination if this is a Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI) device.
- Must be capable of scanning at least 50 pages per minute in simplex mode.
- Must be capable of scanning at least 90 pages per minute in duplex mode.
- Must have vendor-supported drivers for current City-supported Windows operating systems.
- Must be manageable via Windows Device Manager.
Scanning Device Requirements – Page Sizes Greater than 11x17:
- Must have its own scanning software.
- Must be capable of scanning documents through E-size (36" wide).
- Auto detection of paper length recommended.
- Must be capable of producing PDF and JPEG file format output.
- Must support Auto Termination if this is a SCSI device.
- Must have vendor-supported drivers for current City-supported Windows operating systems.
- Must be manageable via Windows Device Manager.
Maintenance and Support Requirements:
One-year on-site maintenance and support from the vendor is required; three years recommended.
The Technical Review Committee will not evaluate document scanning devices except by Department request. |
Rationale | The City needs to ensure that all scanning devices attached to scanning workstations for use with the City standard imaging system are supported for use with that system.
