Scope
| Applies to all personal computers directly connected to the City's network. |
Procedure |
- A personal computer found to be noncompliant with the City's virus protection standard will be immediately disconnected from the City's network.
- The affected Department Director, the Department's representative to the City IT Users Group, and the ISD Help Desk will be notified via e-mail of the name (if known) of the individual who has violated the policy and standard for virus protection and that the device has been disconnected from the City's network.
- When the device has the City standard virus protection software installed, the user must call the ISD Help Desk and ISD will verify if the PC is safe to return to the City's network.
- Once ISD has verified the device is safe to return to the City's network, a network connection will be re-established.
|
Rationale | The City has been impacted by viruses. It is very time-consuming and costly to remove viruses and they threaten the integrity of the City's network.
The City's standard virus protection software is constantly updated when enabled. |
