Related Policy | Information Technology Procurement |
Category
| General |
Status | Withdrawn |
Scope
| Applies to all technology designated as "emerging" by the Technical Review Committee (TRC). |
Standard
| At the completion of the evaluation of an emerging technology (e.g. proof-of-concept), the requestor shall submit an evaluation report toTRC. The report must include:
- goals of the evaluation
- evaluation methodology, including metrics utilized
- success criteria
- cost/benefit analysis
- conclusions and recommendation(s).
|
Rationale | The City should in all cases employ the most cost-effective solutions available. While we prefer to avoid risk by using proven technology, we recognize that we must sometimes explore alternatives to meet compelling needs. Before committing City resources to emerging technology, it must be evaluated in a disciplined mannner for appropriateness and cost-effectiveness.
