Information Technology Policies and Standards
Browser Based Web Application Policy
To Be Reviewed
City of Albuquerque browser-based web applications developed for a department and hosted by the City shall go through a review process.
All browser-based web applications developed for a department that reside on any City of Albuquerque server shall undergo a review by the Information Systems Division (ISD) before the Technical Review Committee (TRC) review. The browser-based web application must comply with City of Albuquerque website policies, standards, and procedures.
Department created or vendor/volunteer developed browser-based web applications will be supported by the department and will not be supported by ISD. For department-created/ vendor-created/volunteer-created browser-based web application, the department must have a plan for the ongoing support and maintenance of the application, either through the use of internal employees or a vendor under contract.
Browser-based web applications may be published (i.e., moved to production) only after official approval by the TRC. TRC may approve, conditionally approve, or deny the request.
In the past, applications have been developed for city departments (either internally or externally, using a vendor or volunteer) that are not properly documented or reviewed. Poor quality applications developed in this manner cause problems for the city in the long run. This policy ensures long term support of City of Albuquerque web applications.
